What the company does公司做什么

Honeywell Aerospace makes parts, systems, and software for aircraft. Honeywell separated this business as its own public company on 29 June 2026. It makes engines, auxiliary power units (APUs), avionics, and flight controls. Airlines, plane makers, business-jet owners, and defense customers buy these products, plus the spare parts and repair service that follow for decades.

Honeywell Aerospace sells aircraft equipment, and — at higher margin — the spare parts, repairs, and upgrades that each aircraft needs for many years after it first flies.

👀 ANALYZED 8/06 — first file ever, the day it fell −23.2%.

What's working

  • Demand is not the question: backlog $18.15B +9% (ahead of sales), book-to-bill 1.1x, orders +8%, $15B of new lifetime-value wins YTD incl. IndiGo's 810 A320neo avionics/APU award, the largest new-equipment win in company history
  • Real moat assets: >95,000 APUs delivered / ~47,000 in service, standard on every in-production narrowbody; ~45% of business-jet cockpit avionics; ~90% of the in-service fleet carries something of theirs; 44% of revenue is commercial aftermarket

Red flags

  • The read-across is the indictment, and it is the whole reason this is 5.5 not 7: RTX's Pratt aftermarket grew +25% and TransDigm's +17% in the same quarter under the same casting tightness — HONA's grew +8%. GE, RTX, TDG and Safran all raised. RTX explicitly credited improving material receipts. This is execution, not a sector headwind
  • Guidance broke nine weeks after being set at its own 6/3 investor day and five weeks after the spin; CEO Currier: "Frankly, I underestimated how long it would take." Remediation is guided to 2027 — two more quarters with no proof. CNBC's Investing Club downgraded that night and exited the next day
  • $15.849B debt, cash $1.057B, equity −$5.623B deficit, ~3.1x leverage — $16B of notes issued at separation with ~$9.1B dividended straight back to the parent. No dividend, no buyback; the tax matters agreement restricts M&A/buybacks beyond open-market for two years
  • But it rents its own name$1.125B over <5yrs to license "Honeywell" from HON, and HON, not HONA, controls enforcement of licensed IP. Absent entirely from mainline commercial engines (CFM/RTX duopoly); #2/#3 in business-jet engines. PMA erosion is a slow structural bleed that AI-assisted certification widens. Moat 7.0 — wide but dependent

Watch

  • Ticker trap: this is the name that "HON fell 20%" refers to. Honeywell separated 2026-06-29 — HON kept the ticker as the automation company; Aerospace was distributed as HONA, 1 share per 2 HON. HON fell only −2.97% on 8/6. Because HON also reverse-split 1-for-2, both tickers now show ~317M shares, which makes vendor screens look broken. They aren't. Passes this sleeve's test — a specific fixable problem with a date — but only barely, and the date is far away. The problem: a shortage of precision castings/forgings/machining/bearings in 2% of a 3,000+ supplier base forced parts toward Boeing/Airbus OE lines and away from the higher-margin aftermarket. Q2: sales $4.522B +5%, but adj EBIT −7% ($995M), margin −290bps to 22.0%, adj EPS $1.87 vs $2.13 est. Engines & Power Systems alone lost $82M of EBIT against a $71M company-wide decline (margin 18.4%→12.4%) — the other two segments were net positive. FY26 guide cut 7-9% → 4-5% organic, EBIT $4.65-4.75B → $4.35-4.45B, first-ever EPS guide $7.60-7.90 (street had ~$8.86); H2 FCF maintained at $1.0-1.5B
  • Two live data traps, both logged: the vendor balance sheet is still the carve-out (debt $271M vs the real $15.8B, positive equity vs a deficit) → Graham IV is inapplicable, not just wrong; and PE(fwd) 16.28 is stale pre-cut consensus — true forward is 20.2x. At 20.2x with a 40% defense mix, it sits on top of RTX (~20x), not below it — the apparent discount to GE (32x) and TDG (34x) is mostly mix. EV $64.4B → EV/EBIT 14.6x, EV/EBITDA 13.3x, net debt/EBITDA 3.06x, FCF yield 3.0-4.0%. Bogle ER 6-11%/yr, wide bars. FV $150-210 (central $180) — spot is at the bottom edge of fair, which is interesting and not cheap. Entry $130-150. Trim 24x fwd.
  • Sleeve rule applies — exit when the gap closes.Gated on the Q3 print, early Nov — the first quarter fully its own. second guidance cut aftermarket growth still ≤8% while peers hold 15%+ FCF guide withdrawn or missed backlog rolls over or book-to-bill <1.0x debt raised for anything but operations.

Why customers stay

Honeywell Aerospace holds a near-monopoly in APUs — it has delivered more than 95,000 units, and about 47,000 are in service on almost every in-production narrowbody jet. Its avionics and systems sit in about 90% of the global fleet, and roughly 44% of revenue is high-margin commercial aftermarket, which repeats for the life of each aircraft. But the spin left it with heavy debt and negative equity (about $15.8B debt, ~3.1x leverage), and it must license the "Honeywell" name from HON, which keeps control of the patents. A 2026 shortage in about 2% of its suppliers broke its guidance and showed that the business can be starved from the supply side; management guides the fix to 2027.
