This is the core of the business. Fuel cost and passenger demand swing this line the most from quarter to quarter. A fare war or a fuel spike hits this segment first and hardest.
- Standard fares标准票价 — a ticket for a coach seat on a domestic or nearby-international route.
- EarlyBird & Upgraded BoardingEarlyBird及优先登机 — a paid add-on for a better spot in the boarding line.
- Assigned & premium seating对号及高级座位 — new in 2026; a paid option for a chosen or extra-legroom seat.2026年新推出;付费选择指定座位或加大腿部空间座位的选项。
A bank pays Southwest for every mile a cardholder earns, so this revenue does not depend on a plane taking off. It is a steady, high-margin stream and it grows as the card base grows.
- Rapid Rewards programRapid Rewards计划 — points a flyer earns and spends on future flights.
- Co-brand credit card联名信用卡 — a card that earns Rapid Rewards points on everyday spending.
Freight is a small, steady business that uses spare cargo space on scheduled flights. "Other" includes items like the airline's Business Select and vacation-package revenue.
- Freight货运 — cargo carried in the belly of scheduled passenger flights.
- Vacations & other度假套餐及其他 — package trips and smaller ancillary lines.
Southwest ended "Bags Fly Free" in 2025, so checked-bag fees now sit here for the first time. This line is expected to grow as more of these fees phase in through 2026.
- Checked bag fees托运行李费 — a new charge for a checked bag, added in 2025.2025年新增的托运行李收费。
- Change and other fees改签及其他费用 — smaller optional charges tied to a booking.

🟠 ANALYZED 8/30 — WATCH. Not a survival story — leverage is fine (net debt/EBITDAR ~0.4x) — a moat-transition story. The historical cost/culture moat (single-737 fleet, fast turns from open seating, "bags fly free") made LUV the rare airline that behaved like a compounder; the Elliott-driven transformation (ending open seating + free bags, adding assigned/premium seating, red-eyes) could unlock real RASM segmentation or dismantle the exact mechanism that made it cheap to run and beloved (CASM creep, brand convergence with legacy peers who run this playbook better). Only 1-2 post-rollout quarters of data — not yet resolvable either way.
Red flags
- A Q2 beat still triggered an 11-13% drop on a fuel-driven guide cut; buybacks (~$4B/6qtrs) funded by debt+cash during negative FCF. FV $35-50. Entry $30-35. Trim into $52-58 without 2 quarters confirming RASM > CASM-ex-fuel (explicit, not a multiple). Recheck Q3 FY26 10/21

Why customers stay
A single aircraft type keeps maintenance, training, and crew costs low, and a large, loyal Rapid Rewards base gives it a steady, high-margin revenue stream apart from ticket sales. This edge is not fixed — new assigned seating and bag fees trade some of the airline's old boarding-speed and simplicity advantage for the extra revenue.
